Changes To Make in 2016

So yet again another year has passed. And it was quite possibly the best year of my whole entire life. Sure it's had some hurdles but I feel like they definitely made me a stronger person and I feel confident in saying I found myself. I found a whole lot of things i'd thought i'd lost forever - love, passion, hope, inspiration and a life that's worth fighting for. This year is probably going to be the hardest year to leave behind but in saying that I have all the more reason to set goals and positive changes for 2016. Here are a few of the things that have crossed my mind that I think applies to almost everyone.

1. Be Grateful

Life is always going to be full of challenges and may seem unfair, which is why it is important to take the time to appreciate what is good. I recommend a gratitude journal - It is easy to quickly jot down one thing each day that you are grateful for and will also help you learn things about yourself that you never knew. At the same time having a gratitude journal is wonderful to look back on when you are feeling exceptionally despondent.

2. Forgive

Forgive those who deserve it, forgive those who don't deserve it and most importantly forgive yourself. Remember forgiveness does nothing for those who you are forgiving - It is for your own peace of mind. It benefits you and your soul. No one wants to carry around a heavy heart full of sadness and anger. Take this opportunity to wipe your slate clean.

3. Keep a memory jar

Every time you do something or something happens to you that makes you feel happy, write it on a piece of paper and pop it in your memory jar. At the end of the year you can read through all of them and reflect on the good year that you have had. You will be surprised at what you have forgotten and it may just help you appreciate your year a little more.

4. Save

Save your money - stop spending it on little trivial things that essentially mean nothing to you. You work so hard and what do you have to show for it?

5. Spend

Okay so I know this one is a bit of a contradiction buuuut just hear me out okay? Spend your money - spend it on things you maybe wouldn't have spent it on before. Such as travelling, improving your passion, clothes that you actually WILL wear and your loved ones. Spending your money on things that will actually benefit your mental well being and life experiences and you may actually feel like you spent it on something worthwhile.

6. Have no regrets

Everything happens for a reason and you can't doubt the way you may have felt a certain point in time or in a certain situation. As long as you believe you are doing what is best for you and what it is that you want then I believe that even if you disagree a few months or even days down the line then you are doing the right thing.

7. Have fun

Taking life too seriously is only going to drain you emotionally and physically. Love every moment and everything and you are surely going to be okay.
